Mr. Stephen Miller
I am from North Kansas City, Missouri and attended North Kansas City High School. I then graduated in 1983 from William Jewell College where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. I attended Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky to study Professional Ministry/Chaplaincy. Shortly after my graduation in 1986, I pastored a Presbyterian Church(Presbyterian Church USA) in Iowa for about a year and realized that it was not for me and returned to college at Iowa State to become a school teacher. I became a teacher in the Kansas City Kansas School District in 1990. I returned to graduate school in SPED, at KU, for a SMD ceritfication (Severe, Profound and Multiple Disablilty) as well as an Adaptive SPED certification. I am currently in my 24th year as a teacher, 10 as a general education teacher and 13 as a SE teacher. I have taught in KCK, Auburn-Washburn, and the Topeka School District before coming to the Seaman School District and Mathes Learning Center in 2012.
I have a wonderful family. My wife, Deb, is a pharmacist at the VA Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. My daughter, Rachel, is a nursing student in her second year at KU. My son, Luke, is a Junior at Free State High School in Lawrence, Kansas. We reside in Lawrence, KS. My favorite things to do are spending time with family, doing anything with sports and boating at the lake.
