Seaman Middle School’s Student Council (STUCO) and student body demonstrated extraordinary generosity, school spirit, and community support by raising $5,000 in less than two hours during the school’s annual carnival. The funds were presented today to Topeka North Outreach (TNO) during a school assembly.

STUCO sponsors and TNO praised students for coming together to support families in need. “I am so incredibly proud of what you accomplished at the carnival,” said STUCO Sponsor Jill Becker during the assembly. “In under two hours, you raised over $5,000. This money will go directly back into our community.”

Representing Topeka North Outreach, President Laura Smith attended the assembly to accept the donation and explain how the funds will make an immediate impact.

“We are so blessed that you chose Topeka North Outreach to receive this wonderful gift,” she said. “This check will support two important programs that serve local families.”

According to TNO, half of the donation will help provide Christmas meals for the 50 families the organization has adopted for the holiday season, ensuring families can enjoy a full holiday meal together.

The remaining portion will support Operation Backpack, TNO’s weekend food program that provides food sacks to students so they have enough to eat when school is not in session. “Groceries are expensive, and we truly rely on donations like this to purchase the food that goes into those sacks,” Laura said. “Thank you for your generosity and hard work.”

Seaman Middle School is proud of its students for demonstrating leadership, empathy, and a commitment to serving others. This year’s carnival not only brought the school community together for a fun event, but also showcased the positive impact young people can make in their very own community.
