Students at Elmont and Logan had a unique and exciting learning opportunity as the KidWind Project Shark made a special stop on its journey from Wisconsin to Salina, Kansas for the KidWind State Challenge.

The traveling Shark wind tunnel stopped at both Elmont and Logan schools, giving students a hands-on preview of the science and engineering behind wind energy. Elmont will be sending two student teams to the state competition in Salina.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to meet and visit with the creator of the Shark wind tunnel, asking questions and learning more about how wind turbines are tested and improved. The excitement continued with a livestreamed trivia session, where students tested their knowledge of wind energy and renewable power while connecting with others along the Shark’s journey.

The stop provided a memorable learning experience and helped build excitement for the upcoming competition. Elmont’s two teams will be traveling to Salina with a little extra inspiration and a close-up look at the science behind their hard work.
