Learning Without Limits

FBLA
Mr. Hoffmans introduced our FBLA State Champions, Zach Jowers, Jaxon Kramer and Alley Voiers as the State Champions in the Banking & Financial Systems category. The group competed at the state conference against around 30 teams and took first place.

Art Awards
Mrs. Ramberg introduced Seaman High School Junior Adyson Cashman. Adyson was recognized for her many student art awards. Adyson won Best in Show, People's Choice, and first place in the High School Division at the Youth Art Month competition. She also won Best in Show and First Place in the YAM competition at Washburn Art Day and a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art competition. Adyson shared her work with the board and answered questions about her artistic process.

Future Cities
Mr. Berry shared Seaman Middle School’s most recent models from the Future Cities class and competition. SMS had five teams in their international competition class with over 45,000 middle school students competing worldwide. SMS hosted 42 teams for this year's regional competition. Every year students are given a new challenge and students use recycled material to create a model city. This year's challenge was "natural disasters" and students created their cities to not be affected by the natural disaster.

Superintendent Remarks

Mr. Willson talked about the attributes of a strong public education system including: integrity, honesty, transparency, and accountability. He stated the importance of putting long term student success at the center of a school district's work. "It's a cohesive team partnered with families to fulfill our mission and achieve our goals," said Willson. Mr. Willson stated that students need a strong academic foundation and a wide range of experiences to increase exposure to new opportunities in a changing environment. "As opportunities change, fewer kids are doing what their parents do...we have to help more students understand the opportunities they have."
