Community Conversation - Vaping Prevention

November 12 from 6 PM – 8 PM at Seaman High School

The USD 345 Vaping Prevention Committee would like to invite all parents, students, and the Seaman community to this important discussion centered around the potential dangers of vaping, misconceptions about e-cigarettes, and how we can all help our kids and community prevent vaping.

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes, vapes, or vape pens) have become a new trend among children and teens and Seaman School District is working towards prevention. In the most recent Kansas Communities that Care (KCTC) survey, district leaders found e-cigarette use on the rise and a decline in traditional cigarettes.

New Bus Technology

We have an exciting safety and security measure that will be added to our bus services. On November 5, all Northern Hills bus riders and their routes will be added to our new tracking system called Bus Compass. Parents will have the ability to locate their student’s bus in real time through an app. They will also be able to set up alerts when the bus is a few stops away so they are aware of any pick-up delays. Parents will also be able to see when their student boards and exits the bus. Students will be given a key fob to swipe as they enter and exit the bus. Parents and guardians will be emailed instructions on how to set up the app.

Northern Hills Elementary will be the district's first school to implement this new technology. After our transportation department, parents, and riders have had time to become acclimated to this new system, other schools will be added. Parents of bus riders will be emailed instructions as their school is added.
Bus Compass

Wifi Connection on SHS Activity Busses
Wifi was initially installed in all USD 345 busses as a student safety measure. The Wifi is used to transmit audio and video for the bus surveillance system. Wifi is also used for GPS services to track bus location. With Wifi already on busses, schools have the ability to turn on Wifi capabilities to allow students to connect their school issued laptops while traveling for school activities. This added benefit to students will begin with Seaman High School activity busses with the option to expand to other busses in the future. There is no additional cost to turn Wifi on for rider access.

Fall Plays

The Beverly Hillbillies
Seaman High School presents "The Beverly Hillbillies" on Nov. 14, 15, 16 at 7:00 pm. The lovable Clampett family rides onto the stage for an evening of hillbilly hilarity. Starting in the Clampett's mountain cabin, the play follows them through the discovery of oil, their improbably invasion of hi-falutin' Beverly Hills society and the absurd adventures and ridiculous romances they encounter there. They and the people they meet in "Californy" provide twists and turns, mistaken identity, wrestling, a couple of proposals and a big plate of muskrat shanks and hand slung chitlins.
