I have kind of an eclectic background of education. I received an associate's degree in Travel and Tourism from Cloud County Community College and worked during that time as a travel agent. I continued at KSU by studying Parks and Recreation for the next two years. (I wanted to travel and I loved sports and being active.) Neither major was right for me and I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up and excitedly transferred to Emporia State where I graduated with a degree in Education.
I taught 2nd grade at Jefferson West Elementary, 5th grade at Auburn Elementary, 7th/8th Grades at Washburn Rural Middle School and am in my 6th year at Seaman High School. During that time I received my Master's in Gifted Education K-12, again through ESU (Go Hornets!).
Each year I spent in the classroom I felt was the "best year ever". I realize now I was wrong all but the last 5 years. Seaman High School is exactly where I want to be and I love the community, colleagues and especially my students.
I live in Topeka with my 3 kids. Parker is 14 and a freshmen at Washburn Rural High School. Cade is just shy of 12 and a 6th grader at Farley Elementary and Campbell is 10 and a 5th grader at Farley.
I LOVE to read and I like a variety of genre's. My all-time favorite book is A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving. Other interests are staying physically fit via a variety of activities, movie watching, & travel.
