Message from the Principal . . .
As I reflect on the past school year, I could not be any prouder of the many things we accomplished as a school. Our students learned at extremely high levels. Our staff continued to prove that they are a model by which all other educators should strive to be. Our families and community provided the traditional love and support that makes Elmont go. We are best school for a reason, and will continue to be moving forward.
This summer will be a busy one at Elmont, with more changes set to occur than we have dealt with at any time over the past 10 years. We will be welcoming several new staff members, and will be seeing many familiar faces taking on new challenges throughout our building and elsewhere. I am extremely excited for this new era at Elmont Elementary, and feel that you will enjoy it as well.
It's been a great year, and it will surely be a great summer as well. Enjoy every second of it. Have fun, be safe, and be ready to hit the ground running in August for the 2018-19 school year!

Looking for a Community Resource?
Is your child or family in need of a community resource, but just aren't sure where to begin? Consider completing a community resource survey offered by Elmont's School Counselor, Megan Klaassen. All information received and any service provided is kept strictly confidential.
Click HERE to access the form.
If you are planning on your child attending a different school or district next fall, please contact the Elmont office. This will greatly assist us in making classroom and staffing decisions for the 2018-19 school year.
Please make sure you are updating us with new addresses when moves occur. Students that are not residing within the Elmont attendance area MUST complete an in-district transfer request through the superintendent's office. Students that are not residing within the Seaman district MUST complete an out-of-district transfer request through the superintendent's office. Know that these requests must be made annually, beginning in April. The address you provide as your "home" address must be the address where your child permanently resides.
2018-19 Transfer Requests
If you reside outside the Elmont attendance area, you are required to submit an in-district or out-of-district transfer request to attend our school. This is required EVERY year, even if your child is a current Elmont student. (Click HERE to download a form) Please keep in mind that the following factors are weighed when approving and denying requests:
- Class Size
- Student Behavior
- Fees Owed
If your child is a transfer student, you need to take care of this request as soon as possible.
Thank you so much to all of our tremendous volunteers through the school year! Mark August 24th on your calendars for our annual Donuts with Dads Watch DOGS sign-up and information session. Dads and grandfathers will be able to sign up for a maximum of 2 days during the 2018-19 school year. (no semester limitation this time) Please know that this limit is in place to provide as many Watch DOGS as possible a chance to sign up. We have over 250 families, and only around 170 dates available.

Office Max/Office Depot 5% Back
As part of their Give Back to Schools program, Office Max and Office Depot give Elmont 5% credit for purchases made when our school ID is given. Simply let the clerk know Elmont’s school ID (70039230), and that’s all you need to do. We use this credit to purchase supplies for use throughout the school. Click HERE for a printable ID card.
Things to remember
Elmont’s start/dismissal times are 8:50 am and 4:00 pm.
Reporting an absence or tardy
Mrs. DiDio keeps track of attendance, not teachers. Please remember to call the office if your student will not be at school by 8:50 (either due to being tardy or absent). When your child will be absent or tardy, a reason must be given. There are different codes used in PowerSchool that are used for health reporting/monitoring.
When reporting a student as absent, the office can also take requests for missing work. Work can be held in the office for pick-up, sent with a sibling, friend, or neighbor, or held in the classroom for the absent student's return.
If you have a change of transportation for your child (will be a car rider instead of riding the bus, etc.), please notify their teacher or the office BEFORE 3:40 pm. We are unable to grant change requests after 3:40. Thank you for understanding.
If you or other family members are planning on eating a school lunch with your child, you must alert your child's teacher the day before you plan on eating to ensure an extra adult lunch is included with the next morning's classroom lunch count submission. We cannot guarantee last minute requests will be filled.
