District Wellness Nights are a great way to get kids and families connected outside of school. They’re free to participate and always fun. From bouncy houses and organized games to walking laps--there’s always something for everyone.
Seaman Middle School and Northern Hills hosted the District Activity/Wellness Night on Nov. 9, 2016. It was a wonderful evening promoting the benefits of regular exercise, good nutrition, and healthy habits. Many community businesses and organizations provided health, wellness, and safety information along with activities.
SMS/NH would like to THANK the following community groups or people for providing activities, health/wellness booths, and/or prizes:
Stormont Vail/ Safe Kids, Rebound Sports Performance, Oral Health Kansas, Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Parents As Teachers, Shawnee North Community Center, Amanda Rush (Sunflower Strength and Conditioning), Taryn Schumacher and Sierra Moore (Radiant Dance Studio), Washburn University student nurses, Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group, SMS Parent Organization, SMS FCCLA, and numerous SMS students and staff, NH staff, and district PE teachers for helping make this event a huge success.
We had 460 people who attended this event. It was great to see so many students, parents, staff, and community members out exercising together and being part of our charge to improve health and wellness!
Progress continues on the Orozco Trail. If you have visited recently you may have noticed the beautiful new entrances encompassed with engraved bricks and limestone benches. Residents and visitors of the district have an opportunity to support the care of the trail by preserving their names and/or brief statements at entrance points and throughout the trail while becoming a permanent fixture of the charming trail scenery. Money raised from the fundraiser will go towards regular trail maintenance and expansion of the trail. Click here to download an order form.
