After 30 years in public education and six years at Seaman School District, Dr. Steve Noble will be retiring as Superintendent of Schools on June 30, 2022. The board will be engaging in a superintendent search with the assistance of the Kansas Association of School Boards. Meet the Superintendent Candidates

Mischel MillerDr. Mischel Miller will be interviewing for the position of superintendent with the USD 345 Board of Education on March 24, 2022.

Miller is the third of three candidates the USD 345 Board of Education will be interviewing. Candidates were selected for interviews based on their fit with desired characteristics that were developed with input from focus groups and an online community survey utilized during the search process.

Miller is currently serving as the Director of Teacher Licensure and Accreditation for the Kansas State Department of Education. She is in her fifth year in that position. Previously, Miller served as Superintendent in USD 380 Vermillion for three years and Assistant Superintendent in USD 443 Dodge City for three years. She has spent a total of 33 years in education, holding other positions which included principal, professional development consultant, and teacher.

Miller earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University in 2021 and her master’s degree in Education Administration from Fort Hays State University in 2002. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from St. Mary of the Plains in 1989.




Brad WillsonBrad Willson will be interviewing for the position of superintendent with the USD 345 Board of Education on March 23, 2022.

Willson is the second of three candidates the USD 345 Board of Education will be interviewing. Candidates were selected for interviews based on their fit with desired characteristics that were developed with input from focus groups and an online community survey utilized during the search process.

Willson is currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent for USD 230 Spring Hill. He is in his seventh year in that position and previously served as Director of Human Resources for two years. Willson also served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction in USD 453 Leavenworth for three years. He has spent a total of 28 years in education, holding other positions which included assistant principal and science teacher.

Willson earned his master’s degree in Educational Technology from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2003. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Physics Education from Kansas State University in 1994.




Juanita EricksonJuanita Erickson will be interviewing for the position of superintendent with the USD 345 Board of Education on March 22, 2022.

Erickson is the first of three candidates the USD 345 Board of Education will be interviewing. Candidates were selected for interviews based on their fit with desired characteristics that were developed with input from focus groups and an online community survey utilized during the search process.

Erickson is currently serving as the Superintendent for USD 461 Neodesha. She is in her fifth year in that position. Previously, Erickson served as General Director of Elementary Education in USD 501 Topeka for six years. She has spent a total of 33 years in education, holding other positions which included principal and teacher.

Erickson earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 1993. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with emphasis in Language Arts from Marymount College of Kansas in 1988.


Community Meet & Greet
The USD 345 Board of Education will be interviewing three candidates for the position of Superintendent of Seaman Schools on March 22, 23, and 24. Candidates were selected for interviews based on their fit with desired characteristics that were developed with input from focus groups and an online community survey utilized during the search process.

The interview process includes spending time in the school district which includes a meet and greet hosted by former Superintendent of Schools Mike Mathes. Our school community is invited to come by and meet each superintendent candidate from 5:00 to 5:30 pm on March 22, 23, and 24 at the Seaman Education Center (901 NW Lyman Rd).

Focus Groups
The USD 345 Board of Education is inviting parents, students, and staff and community members who are involved in committees or organizations within the Seaman community to participate in superintendent search focus groups being conducted by the Kansas Association of School Boards. Invitations have been sent to those individuals serving in these roles.

Community members who do not serve in these roles are invited to attend the focus group meeting on March 9, 2022 in the Seaman High School Library at 4:00 pm. The time will be spent gathering insights and ideas about the desired traits and characteristics of our new superintendent. Participants will be working in small groups to share prioritized characteristics. The session takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

The questions will focus on:
Current strengths of the district;
Challenges the district is facing;
Skills, traits and qualities for the new superintendent.


The information provided will guide our school board as we move forward with the search. If you are unable to attend, please provide your feedback through the online survey. Participants in the focus groups are also encouraged to complete the online survey in addition to the focus groups.

USD 345 Superintendent Search Survey Distribution

The Kansas Association of School Boards in coordination with the Seaman School District is conducting an online survey to seek input on desired characteristics of the new superintendent. The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete and can be accessed at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3452022

The survey will close at 11:45 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Paper copies will be available at the Seaman Education Center (901 NW Lyman Rd). Survey results will be shared with the USD 345 Board of Education.
