Meet our 2025 Horizon Award Winners! The Kansas Horizon Award recognizes outstanding first-year teachers who demonstrate excellence in the classroom and show the potential to develop into exemplary educators. It highlights the best of Kansas’s new teachers and celebrates their early contributions to our district.

Alyssa Flower, a second-year teacher at North Fairview, has quickly distinguished herself as an exceptional educator who excels in instruction, classroom management, and relationship-building. She creates an engaging, welcoming learning environment with clear expectations and high student involvement. Dedicated to both academics and social-emotional growth, Alyssa goes above and beyond through individualized lessons, professional development, and extracurricular activities. Her professionalism, creativity, and commitment make her the winner of the 2025 USD 345 Elementary Horizon Award.

McKenna Crady, a second-year teacher at Seaman High School, has proven herself to be an inspiring and dedicated educator who sets clear expectations while fostering a classroom where students feel free to thrive and express themselves. Her professionalism, grit, and strong relationships with students and parents allow her to create a vibrant learning environment built on trust and respect. McKenna stands out for her confidence, maturity, and initiative, demonstrated not only in her teaching but also in her collaboration with colleagues. Her commitment, positivity, and leadership make her the USD 345 Secondary Horizon Award Winner.
