Day on the Farm

Day on the Farm
Posted on 04/10/2026
Second graders across USD 345 spent an exciting day learning about agriculture during the annual Day on the Farm event, held at the North Topeka Saddle Club. Organized by high school FFA members, the event gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore the many aspects of agriculture through interactive lessons designed specifically for second graders.

Throughout the day today, students rotated through a variety of stations led by groups of high school FFA members. Each station focused on a different agricultural topic, allowing students to learn about farming, animals, crops, and the important role agriculture plays in everyday life. The high school students planned and delivered the lessons, creating engaging, age-appropriate activities that kept elementary students curious and excited.

Classes from across the district were bused to the North Topeka Saddle Club, where they moved through scheduled rotations and experienced agriculture in a fun, educational environment. The event also provided a meaningful leadership opportunity for the high school FFA members, who enjoyed sharing their knowledge and passion with the younger students.

This year's Day on the Farm was a great success, bringing learning to life outside the classroom and strengthening connections between students across grade levels. It was a memorable and educational experience for everyone involved.
