Posted on 08/07/2025
Each year, the Support Staff of the Year Award gives our district a chance to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes who keep our schools running smoothly. These are the people our staff members say they simply couldn’t do their jobs without, the ones who show up every day with dedication, heart, and a commitment to helping others succeed. From behind-the-scenes problem solvers to friendly faces students count on, the nominations we receive each year reflect the deep appreciation and respect their colleagues have for them.

I’m going to list all of the names that have been nominated and then I will announce the 2025 Support Staff of the Year. Please stand at your seat when your name is called so we can appreciate you!

Seaman School District is proud to announce that Tammy Johnston has been named the 2025 Support Staff of the Year. Tammy’s dedication, leadership, and tireless work ethic have made a lasting impact on our Food Service Department and the entire Seaman community.

Tammy began her journey in the district as a Food Service worker at Logan Elementary in 2014. It didn’t take long for her talents to shine. Her strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail quickly distinguished her as a leader. She advanced to Nutrition Manager and has since become a trusted mentor for our entire management team.

Tammy plays a critical role in the recruitment and onboarding of all new food service staff, ensuring that every new hire is properly trained and supported. She coordinates daily staffing across the district’s kitchens, often stepping into a position herself when needed. Whether planning menus, organizing training, or moving heavy cases of food, Tammy leads by example, always working side by side with her team.

Her leadership extends beyond logistics. Tammy is a person who listens, supports, and acts when problems arise. She understands that sometimes the most important thing she can do is simply be there for others.

Throughout her more than ten years with the district, Tammy has championed high-quality operations. She keeps kitchens clean, prioritizes food safety, and ensures cost-effective ordering practices. She introduces menu items with students in mind, balancing required nutrition guidelines with meals kids are excited to eat. Items like spicy chicken wings at Seaman High School are just one example of her thoughtful approach to student satisfaction.

Tammy has also helped the district navigate major transitions, including the shift back to charging for meals after the COVID-19 pandemic. Her calm leadership and deep understanding of state and federal regulations have helped ensure that Seaman’s food service remained dependable, adaptable, and student-focused during challenging times.

Tammy embodies the qualities that make our support staff exceptional. Her impact is felt across every school kitchen in the district, and her daily presence makes our schools better, safer, and more welcoming places.

We are incredibly grateful to Tammy Johnston for her continued dedication to Seaman students and staff. Congratulations, Tammy, on being named the 2025 Support Staff of the Year!

We also want to recognize and thank all of our outstanding nominees, each of whom exemplifies the spirit of service and excellence that helps make Seaman a great place to learn and work.
