There are several reasons I came to work for the Seaman district but mostly because I wanted to get back home. Seaman/North Topeka feels like home to me. This is the same reason I brought my kids into the district years ago.
School transportation is an integral part of a student’s school experience. We are the first contact they have in the morning and the last in the afternoon. A bus driver/para interaction with the student helps shape their day. On top of that, in this day and age, many homes are single parent homes. The parent may work or not have a car, making it difficult for them to transport their own children to school. Also, our district does not have many safe walking paths to school. The Seaman Transportation Department strives to provide the safest, on-time transportation a student can get.
My vision for the transportation department is multi-tiered. First, I want to see our employees transformed into a cohesive team, working together to get the students to their school and events safely and on time. Second, I would like to see the Seaman transportation department step deeper into the technological age. Technology has come a long way in the school bus industry and as a transportation department I want us to take a look and see how our department and students could benefit from technology.
