Learning Without Limits

3rd Diamond
Seaman High School Teacher Mr. Dechant recently earned a 3rd Diamond degree of membership in the National Speech & Debate Association's Honor Society due to his students' speech and debate presentations, competition, and service. He will be recognized at the 2023 National Speech & Debate Tournament highlighting his achievements in the speech and debate community as well as our local community.


Topeka Center for Peace & Justice
SHS students were recently recognized for their commitment in promoting peace, creating change, and social justice by the Topeka Center for Peace and JusticeIshta Wabaunsee, Madison Wabaunsee, and Kate Eckert were in attendance to receive the award. 

The board also learned about the new Viking Volunteer program in our preschool and elementary schools. This program is similar to the previous Watch D.O.G.S. program that gave dads and grandfathers an opportunity to volunteer in schools.

Mr. Willson reviewed district learning trends The learning trend report is one of four reports that will be presented at the next few board meetings and will be incorporated into the district's annual report.

President Remarks

Next 345 Board of Education Meeting

The next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place on December 12. It is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.

Regular board meetings are scheduled on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm, with the exception of March, which will be held on the third Monday. Regular meetings may be adjourned to another time and place when necessary. Special meetings may also be scheduled on an as-needed basis. 

Regular meetings typically take place at the Seaman Education Center. When meeting locations change, notice is sent out to the public and made available online. Board agendas go live on the Friday afternoon prior to the regular board meeting. 

All regular meetings are streamed live and available on the district's YouTube Channel. A recap of the meeting is also made available through the Board Digest

Both in-person and digital public comment are accepted at regular board meetings. The public comment agenda item may be found in the meeting agenda
