I am honored to be selected as new Superintendent of Seaman Schools and to partner with our students, families, staff, community, and the Board of Education to fulfill the mission and vision of the school district. “Preparing each student for lifelong success” is our moral imperative which ensures our democracy and way of life is secure for our children and their children. We need to care for each individual student and ensure that each and every student realizes their ambitious aspirations by recognizing and utilizing their unique strengths. This requires the full commitment of an entire community working together to make sure that each student is “Learning Without Limits.” I am deeply committed to that work and together we can honor the great work being done and advance it to the benefit of our students.
As your incoming superintendent, I am grateful for the comprehensive hiring process our community engaged in this winter. It was evident through that process that this community loves and supports its schools and wants to build upon the strong foundation that has been set. Because of this process, I was able to learn from a variety of voices in the community and I intend to make listening and learning a hallmark of my work. The entry plan outlined extends that learning so that I may best serve the needs of our students, support our dedicated staff, and partner with families while building a successful community.
Like any school district, we have challenges to overcome but we will identify a path to address those challenges to better serve our students and our community. I want to learn about what is working for our students and how I can honor our progress for students. I also want to hear how we can better prepare our students through meaningful real-world learning experiences that provide not only the knowledge, but the skills and dispositions our students need for lifelong success.
I look forward to meeting many of you in the next few months as, together, we increase educational opportunities for students, support and prepare our educators, and partner with families for the lifelong success of our children.
Sincerely,
Brad Willson
