Winter Weather1 Snow Day = No Make Up
2 Snow Days = School In Session on April 13
3 Snow Days = School In Session April 10 & 13

Due to our current number of school closings, there WILL be school on April 10 & 13. Any additional days needed due to future cancellations will be decided on an as needed basis.

Winter weather is here and it’s time to prepare for the cold, snow, and ice expected during the winter season in Kansas. Below is some information on snow days in the Seaman School District.

Dr. Steve Noble, Superintendent of Schools, makes the final decision on snow days. Dr. Noble checks weather maps, forecasts, and works with district staff members to check the roads, district sidewalks and parking lots. He also discusses the possibility of a snow day with other area superintendents. It is a difficult decision, and one that hinges on what is best for student safety.

If the weather is severe enough, the decision to cancel school may be made the night before the snow day. If possible, this will occur in time for the closing to run on the 10 pm news. In many cases, however, the decision is made the morning of the potential snow day. If a snow day is called, the decision is usually made by 5 am.

When the decision is made to call a snow day, weather delay/early release, we want to make sure you're getting the information quickly so that you can make plans for the rest of your day.

Please be sure that your child's school has current contact information for your family in PowerSchool. If you have been receiving emails and texts from SchoolMessenger, then you should be all set. If you have changed phone numbers and/or email addresses, please call your school to update contact info.
